Located on the banks of the Luangwa River overlooking the South Luangwa National Park, the park’s main entrance only 5 minutes away by car.
Getting there
By Air
BA (British Airways) flies directly to Lusaka (the Zambian Capital) from London. (www.britishairways.com).
SAA (South African Airways) flies via Johannesburg to Lusaka and Lilongwe (Malawi’s Capital) from London (www.flysaa.com).
Mfuwe International Airport caters for scheduled and chartered flights from Lusaka and Livingstone.
All internal flights can be arranged from here, we are more than happy to help you with your flight arrangements
Track and Trail River Camp is a 30 minutes drive from the airport. We can collect you from the airport and take you back. Airport transfers are US$20 p.p. each way.
By Road
9-11 hours from Lusaka.
4-6 hours from Lilongwe.
From Lusaka take the Great East Road to Chipata, there is fuel available in Petauke and Chipata on the way.
Directions from Lusaka and Lilongwe leaving Chipata; turn right 50m after Independence Arch and follow the signs to Mfuwe (South Luangwa National Park).
When you enter Mfuwe town you will pass a BP fuel station on the left. Continue straight on for about 1 km and you will see a sign for Track and Trail River Camp on the right. Turn right on the dirt road and follow the signs. After about 500 metres you will enter Track and Trail River Camp turning right. Continue following the signs on the road, keep left and after about 250 metres you will arrive at the reception.
Accommodation
Our comfortable chalets and exclusive safari tents, designed with local African touches are split level and accommodate 4 people, each chalet/tent with its own theme.
The spacious chalets/tents are located at a beautiful spot on the Luangwa River, from your private balcony you can enjoy the magnificent view of the river with its hippos and crocodiles.
All chalets/tents have a sleeping- and seating area, tea & coffee making facilities and beds are provided with a mosquito net. When necessary a fan will bring some airy refreshment.
The en-suite bathroom has a toilet, shower with hot & cold running water and a basin. All chalets have electricity (220V) and are cleaned daily by our friendly staff. Fresh sheets and towels are also taken care of.
